This particular scale is supported by a national society which goes a long way to enhance that pleasure.
The Gauge 1 Model Railway Association comprises a marvelous group of people eager to share their knowledge and their railways to the benefit of everyone.
The membership secretary is:
Mick Mumford,
Membership Secretary,
PO BOX 581, Earls Barton,
NORTHAMPTON, NN6 0YW, UK
The association produces a marvelous quarterly journal, full of help and advice, and has even produced a book on a Fowler 4F locomotive (The Project) which I consider to be the best beginners guide to model engineering I have seen.
This has now been followed by the SECR D class (Dee), more complicated but an excellent model, powered by spirit or gas.
Remember, These models are big enough to see, but small enough to pick up!
There are local groups all round the country – and various events are held throughout the year, including the Donnington and Alexander Palace exhibitions.
